From our last article, e-commerce was defined as a transaction of buying or selling online. Today we answer the ‘Why e-commerce” question for those are interested in using e-commerce and also throw in a little light for those that have little or no idea at all.

E-commerce is short for electronic commerce and is basically an online store, an e-commerce website has features that make it easy for customers to browse for products, select products, add product onto a cart, and then pay for them at checkout.

Using e-commerce platforms like SocialPay, there are people that are steadily embracing the e-commerce ideology here in Uganda and are ditching physical stores to buy goods and services on the Internet. This method of shopping is loved because it is convenient. People can shop from the comfort of their houses.

We bring you a little detail on what the benefits of using an e-commerce platform are and what they might benefit you who has not yet embraced them at all.

Helps with eliminating travel time and Costs: E-commerce platforms save customers the hustle of having to travel long distances to reach their preferred physical store. E-Commerce allows them to visit the same store virtually, with a few mouse clicks and they can choose a variety of goods without having to move.

They are always open: E-commerce/online stores are open 24/7 all year round. From the merchant’s point of view, this increases the number of orders they receive. From the customer’s point of view, an “always open” store is more convenient.

They have deals, Bargains, Coupons and Group Buying: Most e-commerce platforms have amazing offers for their users that include discounts on items, coupons that help with slashing the prices of products.

Reduces maintenance and inventory costs: Numerous costs are involved for the purpose of managing the inventory. However, on an e-commerce platform, its is easy to maintain and manage all these at ago. It saves costs on time and money to manage inventory. Physical means of managing inventory are tedious and costly. However, it is easier and cheaper to manage inventory in an e-commerce website.

It is effective and always accurate: An e-commerce website can keep selling goods and services throughout without getting worn out or getting slow. This is because the whole system is computerized. It is effective and always accurate. As such, when a customer orders a certain product, they will get it delivered to them.
